Aircraft Trim

When using the simulation level flight model of the Ka 50, using trim
properly can have a great affect on how easy it is to fly and control the
aircraft. Without constantly setting trim, you will find yourself fighting
the aircraft.
When trim is set, it locks the cyclic at its location when trim is enabled.
All further movements of the cyclic are then from that starting point
until trim is reset or re set.
As in the real Ka 50, the pilot uses the trim button very often.
Generally, you want to re trim the aircraft if airspeed changes more
than 25 kph. If you remember to trim often, you will find the aircraft
much easier to fly and the aircraft will not initiate large pitch changes.

VISTA

Because of the way Windows Vista handles memory, we strongly rec
ommend not playing missions with large unit counts spread over a large
area when using Vista. Windows XP however can handle such missions
much better, but even Windows XP can crash if mission sizes are made
too large.
Audio Warning Tones
When flying the Ka 50, you will often hear a variety of audio tones.
The two most important you will here are:
• Overtorque warning (black and yellow light) plus the audio tone:
This indicates that the rotor system is generating too much torque.
To resolve this, reduce the collective and this will cease the audio warn
ing and flashing, yellow and back, zebra striped light.
• Overspeed master warning light (red light) and audio tone: If flying
too fast, the exceeding maximum speed tone will sound and the master
warning light will light. To remedy this, pitch up the nose of the helicop
ter to reduce speed. Be careful though not to pitch up too fast or you
risk the rotors clashing. You will also want to reduce collective to avoid
excessive altitude gain.
