Periodically, unplug the printer and use a dry cloth to wipe off any dust or dirt collects on the plug and the power outlet. If the printer is placed at a location exposed to a lot of dust, smoke, or high humidity, the dust that collects on the plug absorbs moisture and may cause insulation failure and ﬁre.

Page 14 Safety Precautions About the Operation Panel If the operation panel becomes damaged and the liquid crystal solution in the panel leaks out, absolutely do not taste or swallow the liquid. In your application, select the command to print a document. The Print dialog box can usually be opened by selecting Print from the File menu. Ensure that Canon S820D is selected in the Name ﬁeld. Then click the Properties button. The Printer Properties dialog box opens.
Page 17 This method is used for maintenance operations such as print head cleaning, or to specify printer settings common to all application programs. When the Printer Properties dialog box is opened from the Start menu, the Windows operating system adds several tabs, including the Details tab. Print Head Cleaning Clean the print head if you suspect that the nozzles might be clogged. Head cleaning can be performed either from the printer drivers or from the printer itself. Note Cleaning the head consumes ink, so perform head cleaning only when necessary.

Cleaning the Printer During normal printing, ink and small scraps of paper accumulate in the printer. When the accumulated debris becomes clearly visible, clean the printer by the following procedure. Turn the printer off. Ensure that the POWER lamp is off and unplug the printer.
Page 100 Routine Maintenance Open the front cover, and wipe the interior of the printer with a dry cloth. Wipe away any stray drops of ink, scraps of paper, and dust. Pay special attention to cleaning the black panel that can easily become dirty. Do not touch any of the printer's internal components, such as the Ink Absorber.
