  • Page 18 Charging your EPOC X Your EPOC X is charged and tested before shipping — so you can start using it straight away. Charging the battery To optimize the use of your headset, we recommend that you fully charge it before making recordings.

  • Page 22 Hydrating the sensor felts Hydrating The Sensor Felts To hydrate the sensor felts, place them in a glass then add the saline solution and soak. When the sensor felts are fully soaked, remove them from the glass and squeeze out the excess fluid.

  • Page 27 Connecting your EPOC X using the USB receiver dongle The USB receiver dongle uses a proprietary 2.4 GHz protocol to stream data from your headset. We recommend that you use the USB receiver dongle in environments with high levels of Bluetooth interference.
  • Page 28 After the headset is turned on, a second LED on the USB receiver dongle will light up and start to flash. Your headset and USB receiver dongle are now connected. For further information on setting up the connection with your chosen EMOTIV application, please refer to the relevant user manual.

  • Page 32 To adjust the headband, hold the arm and push the headband up or down to rotate. The headband will lock into place. To readjust the headband, repeat this process. When you rotate the headband, update the settings in your chosen EMOTIV application so that the motion data can be interpreted correctly.

  • Page 34 Incorrect positioning of the sensors and/or dry sensors are two of the most common reasons for poor contact quality. If you do not see green sensors on the headmap in your chosen EMOTIV application, the contact quality is not good enough to take recordings.

  • Page 38 Storing your EPOC X when not in use When your EPOC X is not in use, remove all the sensor felts from the headset and allow them to dry out before storing them. Do not leave the sensor felts in the sensors. Leaving wet sensor felts in the sensors will corrode the electrodes.
