    2. Intended use Softcontrol Smart is used to monitor increased hardness concentrations in the soft water of water softening systems based on cation exchangers. It offers continuous, safe limit value monitoring with an alarm when exceeded. At a fixed hardness limit of 10% based on the input water hardness, the device triggers an alarm.

    7. General overview of functions Softcontrol Smart is an online water hardness measuring system for the continuous monitoring of soft water on a connected water softening system based on cation exchangers for increased hardness con- centrations. For this purpose, the device in the bypass takes minimal amounts of raw or soft water from the process in a time-controlled or flow-controlled manner, evaluates the residual water hardness and issues an alarm if hardness breakthroughs are detected.

    8. Operating modes Time- or flow-controlled measurement / active operation If the device is operated without being connected to a water meter, it works time-controlled and measures at 15-minute intervals. An external water meter can optionally be connected. If the device detects water meter pulses, it switches to continuous flow-controlled measurement.

Service 11.1. Delivery/transport/storage of hardness sensor Each hardness sensor has a sensor number that uniquely identifies it. Before delivery, the sensor quality was checked and verified by a final inspection. To protect the sensor membrane, the sensitive sensor part is tightly closed with a protective tube.

11.2. Operating conditions of the sensor Sensor usage conditions: The quality of the sensor is influenced by the water quality, in particular the precipitation of iron, high chlorine or brine concentrations and growing bacterial cultures and must be re- placed at the latest when the sensor alarm is signaled. Required water conditions: natural raw water with a hardness value of 0.18 mmol/l to 10.8 mmol/l water temperature: 5..30 °...
