Introduction
The sound shield quiets operation of generator sets
used in marine applications. When installing the sound
shield, follow the installation procedure and observe the
safety precautions listed below.
Read the entire installation procedure before beginning
installation. Perform the steps in the order shown.
Take into consideration the minimum clearance for
vibration and cooling during operation.

starting of the generator set by an automatic transfer switch,
remote start/stop switch, or engine start command from a
remote computer.

leakproof and routinely inspected.
Operating the generator set. Carbon monoxide can cause
severe nausea, fainting, or death. Be especially careful if
operating the generator set when moored or anchored under
calm conditions because gases may accumulate. If operating
the generator set dockside, moor the craft so that the exhaust
discharges on the lee side (the side sheltered from the wind).
Always be aware of others, making sure your exhaust is
directed away from other boats and buildings.

    Disconnect the following controller connectors. WARNING See the corresponding wiring diagram found in the operation manual for more details on wiring.   • Page 4 Position the internal rails (GM86085 qty. 2) at the location shown in Figure 3 using the mounting bracket and hardware identified in Figure 5. Position a mounting bracket (GM86091) to the top of each internal rail using three bolts (X-6224-20) and three nuts (X-6210-7) per bracket.
  • Page 5 Position the internal rail (GM86084) as shown in Figure 3 (item 2). Secure the internal rail to the upper bulkhead panel using two bolts (X-6224-20), two washers (X-25-37), and two nuts (X-6210-7). On each end of the internal rail, secure a mounting bracket (GM86091) using four bolts (X-6224-20) and four nuts (X-6210-7) per bracket.
