• Any aftermarket changes or modifications to your bike could void the warranty and create an unsafe riding experience. • Ride at night only if necessary. Wear reflective clothing; if posssible, only bike down roads with ample street lighting. Ensure you have reflectors and lights as required by your regional vehicle laws.
While you may have the skills, experience, and tools to assemble the bike before your first ride, GEN3 recommends having a certified bike mechanic double check your work. GEN3 works with Velofix, which offers mobile bike assembly service.

BRAKES Make sure the brakes are working with proper stopping power. The levers should stop short of touching the handlebar. Riding with improperly adjusted or worn brakes is dangerous and can result in injury or death. Keep brake surfaces clean and free from oil or lubricants. Replace worn brakes with authorized replacements.

“THE GROOVE” BIKE OWNERS SKIP TO PAGE 11 STEP 2 - Install the Handlebar a. When the bike is shipped, the stem is attached inwardly facing towards the back of the bike to prevent damage during shipment. It needs to be reversed so the handlebars can be properly attached.
“THE GROOVE” SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS (NOTE: ALL OTHER BIKE MODEL OWNERS SKIP THIS SECTION) “THE GROOVE” - Install the Handlebar a. Ensure the handlebar extension is collapsed and sitting to the right side of the bike. Note: Your bike arrives with the handle bar disengaged.
STEP 3 - Install the Seat Post a. Before installing the seat post, grease should be applied to the bottom 5 inches (12 cm) of the seatpost bar in a thin layer to prevent corrosion and binding of metals. b. Loosen the quick release, the place the greased seat post in the frame. c.

STEP 4 - Install Front Wheel on Fork (continued) f. Mount the wheel to the fork carefully guiding the brake pads onto the rotor. The axle should fit into the fork snugly. g. Tighten the quick release bolt until considerable force is needed to close the quick release lever. The opposite bolt cover needs to be held in place as you twist the quick release lever.
“THE GROOVE” & “THE STRIDE” SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS (NOTE: ALL OTHER BIKE MODEL OWNERS SKIP THIS SECTION) “The Groove” & “The Stride” Install Fender Bike models “The Groove” and “The Stride” require front fender installation. The fender is attached at three points: to the mounting bracket at the top of the front fork where the light is attached, and to the right and left mounting bolts on the lower fork.
STEP 5 - Install the Pedals a. Determine which pedal is LEFT and which is RIGHT by looking at the sticker placed on the pedal. b. Lightly grease the threads. This will prevent metals from binding over time. c. Thread the RIGHT pedal by hand onto the chain-side crank arm in a clockwise direction.
Battery BATTERY TIPS Note - Your electric bike comes with two copies of the battery key. Keep one key in a safe place for repairs, maintenance, and emergencies, and to bring with you to the bike shop. • Remove the battery by turning the key to the UNLOCK position. The battery is then released from the bike frame housing.
CHARGING TIPS (continued) • Ensure the prongs aren’t bent, and if the connection point ever becomes contaminated with grit, mud, or snow, clean it before connecting your battery. • Never leave your bike in the trunk of a hot car with the battery attached. Remove the battery and take it with you instead.

• Keep batteries fully charged when between uses of as much as two weeks apart. Battery and Range BATTERY CAPACITY At the top left on the LCD display a battery icon meter can be found. The bike controller estimates the charge left in the bike’s battery. As the battery depletes, sections will drop according to approximately how much charge in the battery has been used. Note: The energy meter is an estimate.

TROUBLESHOOTING THE ELECTRONICS Your GEN3 bike is equipped with an error detection system integrated into the display interface. In the case of an electronic control system fault an error code will display. Please see the table below for the most common error codes and troubleshooting.
• Avoid slamming on front brake alone. Use back brakes in conjunction to avoid rollover. • Electric bikes are not designed for jumps and stunts. • Failure to adhere to this manual could void warranty or cause bodily harm. GEN3 assumes no liability for failure to comply with the stated guidelines.
• The Covered Components are warranted to be free of defects in materials and/or workmanship during the Warranty Period. In the event that GEN3 determines a Covered Component is defective, GEN3 will, in its own discretion and as your sole and exclusive remedy: a) repair the defective Covered Component free of charge with new or refurbished parts, or b) replace the defective Covered Component with a new Covered Component.
