OPERATION
Do not exceed the maximum
●
1
tongue weight. You can measure
tongue weight with a bathroom
scale. Put the tongue of the
loaded trailer on the scale with
2
the tongue at hitch height. Adjust
the load in the trailer, if neces-
sary, to reduce the weight on
hitch. If you are carrying cargo
3
and towing a trailer, include the
tongue weight in the maximum
vehicle load limit.
4
Load cargo in the cargo bed as
●
close to the center of the vehicle
as possible .
5
Tie down cargo securely in the
●
trailer. Make sure cargo in the
trailer cannot move around. A
6
shifting load can cause an
accident.
Make sure the load does not
7
●
interfere with controls or your
ability to see where you are
going .
8
Drive more slowly than you
●
would without a load. The more
weight you carry, the slower you
9
should go .
Allow more braking distance. A
●
heavier vehicle takes longer to
10
stop .
Avoid making sharp turns unless
●
11
at very slow speeds .
Avoid hills and rough terrain.
●
Choose terrain carefully. Added
weight affects the stability and
handling of the vehicle .
7-3
Uncontrolled Movement Hazard
Never exceed the stated load
●
capacity for this vehicle.
Distribute the load evenly.
●
Secure cargo in cargo bed.
●
Never tow cargo that is not
●
secured.
Reduce speed and allow greater
●
distances for braking.
Death or serious personal injury
can result from failing to comply
with warning instructions in this
manual.
