  • Page 2 Speaker Installation Guide Contacta, Inc. The purpose of this guide is to assist in the installation of the STS K020 microphone and overhead speaker kit. The STS K020 was designed to directly replace similar systems with a simple and easy installation. Please read through the following instructions first before attempting installation.

  • Page 4 Step 1: Remove the STS-S27 overhead customer speaker from the box. Using a 2.5mm Allen wrench, loosen the screws on the side and remove the bracket from the speaker. Also, remove the two-terminal connector on the end of the wire. Step 2: Place the bracket above or below the window in the desired position.
  • Page 5 Step 4: Drill the appropriate size hole near the speaker to feed wires through the wall to the Staff side of the booth. Then, feed the wires through this hole. Step 5: Separate the front and rear microphone plates keeping one of the gaskets on the front microphone assembly.
  • Page 6 Step 6: Please note the microphone wire and tubing can be positioned vertically or horizontally Determine if you would like the tubing vertical or horizontal and align microphone/faceplate accordingly Cut the feeder tube to the desired length and insert the wire through it.
  • Page 7 Step 8 Secure backplate with the 8-32 screws provided. The scored screws may need to be cut/broken down to the desired length based on the glass thickness. Replace the alignment studs with screws Tighten the screws in a “star” configuration, like you would with the lug nuts on a car’s wheels...
  • Page 8 Step 9: Locate the A31 Driver and mounting screws. Cut the speaker wire to the desired length, allowing for 2”-3” of excess wire (service loop) behind the driver. Reconnect the two-terminal connector. The polarity of the wire is not critical. However, for consistency, many installers connect the wire with the black stripe to the right-most terminal (screws upward and wires toward you).
  • Page 9 Step 10: Locate the loose wires from the end of the Microphone cable. Shorten the cable to the desired length, allowing for 2”-3” of excess wire behind the driver. It is recommended to strip the red wire back far enough to bend the wire into a tight loop, then “tin”...
  • Page 10 Step 11: Locate the Staff/STS Mic included in your STS K020 kit. NOTE – Actual model may vary from the model pictured. The connector with the Yellow and Black wires plugs into “Staff Spkr”. The other connector (Red, White, and Black wires) connects to the “Staff Mic”...
  • Page 11 “Loop”. Step 13 : Locate the power supply included in your STS K020 Microphone kit. Mount this with the included metal bracket wherever convenient. It is recommended to install this power supply under the counter near the A31 Driver. Connect the barrel jack from this power supply to the connector on the back of the driver.
