Understanding Dictionary Entries
Each dictionary entry contains a wealth of infor-
mation. The headword, or main word of the entry,
is in boldface, followed by a phonetic pronuncia-
tion. If a headword has more than one dictionary
entry, it is numbered in superscript. Grammatical
information is presented in angle brackets (< >).
Phrases using the headword are boldfaced, and
usage examples are italicized.
