4. Solar Panel Position
To ensure correct functioning of the solar panel, it
is important that the energizer with the solar panel
is directed towards the sun. A carefully oriented
solar panel will prolong the life span of the batteries
considerably.
5. Connecting the Energizer
Connecting the fence
Use a fence connecting cable or earthing wire
(1.6 mm) (not included) to connect the energizer to
the fence.
Connect this cable to the blue connector at
the right with the symbol. First unscrew the
connector and tighten it fi rmly again after
connecting the cable.
Connect the other end of the cable to the fence
wire.
Turn the system on with the ON/OFF switch
located underneath the solar panel. The light on the
device will start to fl ash, indicating that the device
is working. The fence is now live.
Is part of the fence located near a street? Then
make sure to install a 'Caution, live wire!' warning
sign (not included).
6. Installing the electric fence
The electric fence will deliver a light electric pulse
when touched, effective but completely harmless
to humans and animals. The electric fence instils
caution and will keep other pets and animals away
from your garden, while teaching your own pet to
stay within the boundaries.
Planning
Good preparation is important. First make a sketch
of your enclosure and make sure you have enough
material to install the fence. Elephant advises a
2-wire electric fence for small dogs, 3 to 4 wires for
large dogs and a 3-wire electric fence for cats.
The distance between the wires should be between
15 and 35 cm for dogs (depending on the breed)
and between 15 and 20 cm for cats.
In the sidebar you will
fi nd the averages often
applied to dog and cat
fences.
Installation in a garden/yard or around an aviary
Install plastic or
wooden posts every
4 metres. Preferably
use a small wooden
post for the fi rst and
last post(s) to make the
fence more stable.

You can install the fence any way you want; it does
not have to be a closed circuit. This is a com-
mon misconception and is not necessary for the
effectiveness of the electric fence. When using a
wooden post at the beginning and end, screw ring
insulators into the post at the desired heights. This
is where the fence begins and ends.
Now all the posts are up and you can install the
electric wire. Unroll the end of the wire and con-
nect it to the ring insulator that you installed at the
desired height.
Go to the next post and insert the wire through
the wire holder (when using plastic posts) or ring
insulator (when using wooden posts) at the same
height. Continue with each post until you have
reached the end of the fence.
At the end, insert the wire through the ring insulator
on the end post and continue to the ring insulator
above or below. Do not cut the wire! Continue

to the next wire height via the insulator above or
below and work your way back to the fi rst post.
The fence is now ready. Connect the energizer to
the fence (see 5. Connecting the Energizer).
Installation on a wooden fence
Do you want to install the electric fence on a
wooden fence?
Then follow these steps:
3m
Pre-drill 2 cm deep holes every 3 metres, from
the beginning to the end of the fence. Screw the
insulators into the holes.
Connect the end of the fi rst fence wire to the lower
black (plastic) groove of the insulator.
Make sure that the wire does not touch the wooden
fence. Keep the wire taut, twist it around the
bottom of the next insulator and continue to the
end of the wooden fence. Connect the wire to the
last insulator. Now connect the wire to the earthing
pin using insulated wire.
Connect the end of the second row wire to the eye
of the fi rst insulator. Now insert the wire through
the eyes of all the other insulators and, after pulling
