Should this unit exhibit a problem, check the following before seeking service:
Symptom
Radio
Noise or sound distorted
on radio broadcasts.
AM or FM, no sound.
Cassette Player
No sound.
Sound distorted.
Speed varies.
Cassette Recorder
Will not record.
Distorted sound
on playback.
Karaoke
Some vocals are still
present when VOCAL
switch is set to MUSIC.
Feedback is heard
when singing.
General
No sound.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Possible Cause
Station not tuned properly for
AM or FM.
FM: AC cord is not fully extended
or uncoiled.
AM: Unit is not positioned
correctly.
FUNCTION switch not on AM or FM.
Volume at minimum.
FUNCTION switch not set to TAPE.
Volume at minimum.
Dirty head.
Tape old.
Cassette tape worn out.
Erase prevention tab removed.
Defective tape or dirty tape head.
Using non-karaoke tape.
Backup vocals are present.
Microphone is too close to unit
or MIC VOLUME is too high.
Power cord disconnected.

Solution
Retune the AM or FM broadcast
station.
Extend AC cord.
Rotate unit until best reception is
obtained.
Slide to select AM or FM .
Increase volume.
Slide to the TAPE position.
Increase volume.
Clean the head.
Replace the tape.
Replace the tape.
Cover hole with adhesive tape.
Replace tape or clean tape head.
Use karaoke tape.
This is normal, only the main vocal(s)
are to be reduced.
Move microphone away from
unit or decrease MIC VOLUME.
Connect power cord.
