Dentatus Nyström Matrix Retainers Description The Dentatus Nystrom Matrix Retainers are available in three different models: ‐ Models MEC‐N1 and MEC‐N2 hold the matrix bands at slight, opposite angles. They are marked respectively with one vertical line and two vertical lines. Figure 1 shows which model is used for which quadrant in the mouth. The angled slot makes the placement and holding of the matrix band easier and helps avoiding distortion of the band. ‐ Model MEC holds the matrix band straight and may be used for any quadrant of the mouth. Placement of the retainer may be bucal (recommended) and lingual (only recommended during restoration of the buccal wall) (Figure 1). Figure 1 ...

1) Select the appropriate retainer and matrix band. 2) Hold both ends of the matrix band together and slide them inside the retainer's slot until they reach the stop. Important: When using retainer MEC‐N1 or N2, the concave side of the matrix band must be on the side of the retainer with the short side of the slot (Figure 2) Figure 2 3) The small knob locks the matrix band. Turn it clockwise until the band is securely locked. 4) Place the matrix band around the tooth, and turn the large knob clockwise until the matrix band is properly tightened around the tooth (Figure 3).
