To minimize the risk of electrostatic charge, provision shall be made for adequate grounding and equipment shall be installed in such a manner so that accidental discharge shall not occur. When VESDA Sensepoint XCL reaches the end of its life, it should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Power consumption of the detector is maximum 2.3 W (W ). The maximum current required to drive detector max the VESDA Sensepoint XCL at the minimum voltage is 2.3 W ÷ 11 V DC = 209.1 mA (I ). So the detector max maximum field cable loop resistance (R...
Wiring of mA Output Versions CAUTION: Ensure that the wiring of the detector is correct, and the Current Source/Sink selection switch is correctly set BEFORE applying power. Failure to do so may result in damage to the VESDA Sensepoint XCL detector. Power Connection When connecting to DC power, make sure that the polarity is correct.

VESDA by Xtralis VESDA Sensepoint XCL – Large Bore Installation Manual Securing the Back Box to a Wall CAUTION: Before starting installation, make sure that the system controller or external power source is switched off. 1. There are four screw positions in the rear of the back box for mounting purposes. Punch the required screw positions or drill using a 4 mm drill.
VESDA Sensepoint XCL – Large Bore Installation Manual VESDA by Xtralis Cable Connections 1. Fit suitable cable glands appropriate to the application and type of cable being utilized to the opened cable entries. 2. Feed the cable through the cable gland.
VESDA by Xtralis VESDA Sensepoint XCL – Large Bore Installation Manual 5. Replace the terminal blocks in their correct positions. Ground Connections Effective grounding is crucial to ensure stable Modbus communications and to limit the effects of radio frequency interference. Ground points are provided inside the back box. In order to prevent false readings or alarms as a result of ground loops, ensure that the shield of all cables are grounded at a single point, preferably at the controller.
VESDA Sensepoint XCL – Large Bore Installation Manual VESDA by Xtralis 2.10 Securing the Detector Module and Flow Cap 1. Position the detector module with Flow Cap onto the back box ensuring that the status indicator is in the top left-hand corner when viewed from the front.
2.11 Connecting to Pipe Network 1. Take note of pipe flow direction and align with arrow on VESDA Sensepoint XCL Flow Cap. 2. Create a vertical offset in the pipe run to direct flow to the Flow Cap using 4x60° elbows (supplied) as shown below.
2. Install in-line components (particulate filter / water trap) upstream VESDA Sensepoint XCL. With water trap installation, ensure to slope installation pipe toward water trap. 3. Ensure 0.5m (1.65ft) linear pipe length to ASD inlet when mounting VESDA Sensepoint XCL close to ASD.
Commissioning Note: The VESDA Sensepoint XCL gas detector is supplied from the factory pre-calibrated. However, it is strongly recommended that the detector response is checked and if necessary, re-calibrated before placing it into service. Refer to section "4.3 Calibration" for details on the correct calibration procedure.

6. Remove power and refit the detector module to the back box. 7. Apply power. The VESDA Sensepoint XCL will enter a warm-up mode during which time the status indicator will be steady yellow and the output (mA version) will be held in an inhibited state.
VESDA by Xtralis VESDA Sensepoint XCL – Large Bore Installation Manual Status Indicator There is a status indicator on the face of the gas detector. The operating state of the detector is indicated by one of four colors, either steady or flashing.
Target Gas Selection (flammable catalytic versions only) The target flammable (combustible) gas of the VESDA Sensepoint XCL can be changed using the Sensepoint App where the user can select from a range of flammable gases. Refer to the Sensepoint App User Manual Doc.
Maintenance Using the Control Buttons It is possible to perform basic maintenance functions on the VESDA Sensepoint XCL gas detector without the use of the Sensepoint App. This is achieved through the use of two control buttons inside the detector.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions on the Sensepoint App for Calibration: a. Zero calibration: Expose VESDA Sensepoint XCL to ambient air – if there is doubt of the quality of the ambient air, use a cylinder with clean air.
