Locations and Functions of Parts
1 POWER indicators A, B, C
Lit in green when the power is supplied to the
respective power units and the units are operating
normally.
If trouble occurs in a power unit, the corresponding
indicator flashes in red. In such a case, contact
authorized Sony service personnel.
2 BUSY indicator
Lit in amber while an HDD is executing a command.
3 SYSTEM indicator
Flashing during initialization of the system, and lit in
green when the unit is operating normally after self-
diagnosis finishes with no abnormality detected.
If any abnormality is detected, the indicator flashes in
red or amber.
Flashing in red:
• Abnormality detected in three or more HDDs
(recording/playback impossible)
• Abnormality detected in the ID switch setting
• Abnormality detected during initialization of the
system
Flashing in amber:
• Abnormality detected in SBX IN or DAISY CHAIN
connections
• Abnormality detected in one of fans A, B, and C
• Abnormality detected in one of power units A, B, and
C
• Low voltage of the memory backup battery detected
• Abnormality detected in HDD (recording/playback
possible)
• The internal temperature is extraordinarily high.
4 POWER A/B/C switches
Press the side of the switches to turn the respective
power blocks ON. To turn OFF, press the

5 U (signal ground) terminal
For signal ground. Connect when required.
6 ~AC IN connectors A/B/C and indicators
Connect each connector to an AC power source using
an optional AC power cord (1-534-827-14 when used
in North America or 1-590-910-11 when used in the
other areas).
The indicators light in green when the power is
supplied to the respective power units. If trouble
occurs in a power unit, the corresponding indicator
flashes in red.

7 SBX IN (serial bus extension input) connectors
(IN1/IN2) (BNC type)
For data input. Connect to the SBX-OUT connector
on the MAV-2000.
In a daisy-chain connection, connect to the DAISY
CHAIN OUT connector of another MAV-S2000.
8 DAISY CHAIN OUT connectors (D-OUT1/D-
OUT2) (BNC type)
In a daisy-chain connection, connect to the SBX IN
connector of another MAV-S2000.
9 DAISY CHAIN IN connectors (D-IN1/D-IN2)
(BNC type)
In a daisy-chain connection, connect to the SBX OUT
connector of another MAV-S2000 to receive data from
another MAV-S2000.
q; SBX OUT (serial bus extension output)
connectors (OUT1/OUT2) (BNC type)
For data outputs. Connect to the SBX-IN connector on
the MAV-2000.
In a daisy-chain connection, connect to the DAISY
CHAIN IN connector of another MAV-S2000.
qa ID switch
Set the ID number in a daisy chain connection.
For the setting, refer to the Installation Manual.
qs SETUP switches
Set the HDD capacity, single/duplex mode, and
termination.
For the settings, refer to the Installation Manual.
qd ETHER (Ethernet) connector (10BASE-T,
RJ-45 modular jack, conforming to Ethernet
IEEE802.3)
For maintenance. Connect to the Ethernet connector
of the host computer.

qf STATUS OUT connector (D-sub 9-pin)
Outputs the operation mode and error information of
this unit.
1, 9: GND
2 (OPERATE): Becomes active (L) when
initialization ends with no abnormality detected.
3 (WARNING): Becomes active (H) when the
SYSTEM indicator flashes in amber.
4 (ERROR): Becomes active (H) when the SYSTEM
indicator flashes in red.
