Serial Number 0793 to 1202 (MMYY)
Model 185A for 55 gallon standard steel drum (22½" diameter)
Model 185B for 30 gallon standard steel drum (19" diameter)
Model 185G for 55 gallon standard steel drum features three-piece saddle
Model 185C for steel or fiber drum (21-23" diameter)
A. IMPORTANT:
1.
Review the Material Safety Data Sheet(s) for the material(s) in the drum(s) and take all necessary precautions. Safety shoes,
work gloves, hard hat and other personal protective devices are recommended.
2.
Please read all instructions thoroughly before attempting to operate your new MORSE drum handler.
3.
The model 185A, B, C or D have a maximum capacity rating of 800 Lb. FULL drum and 500 Lb. HALF-FULL drum and are
designed to lift, move and pour drums of size and type noted above. DO NOT exceed these ratings. Exceeding these ratings
or handling drums other than those mentioned above is unsafe and could result in equipment damage, excessive wear or
awkward handling.
4.
When loading, unloading, operating, or maintaining your MORSE drum handler, always use care and good judgment.
Maintain secure footing and a firm hold. Keep hands and loose clothing away from all moving parts. Never allow anyone to
be below any part of a raised drum handler or drum. Read operating instructions and review the pictures in the sales
brochure before operation.
B. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
1.
With Kontrol-Karrier standing on the floor, lower hoist and engage hoist hook into the lifting eye.
2.
Raise hoist to lift Kontrol-Karrier clear of floor and move it to the drum.
3.
Position Kontrol-Karrier at a height which aligns the saddle band with the center of the drum.
4.
With the cinch chains (item 25 or 26) hanging freely, push Kontrol-Karrier against the drum so that saddle will encircle the
drum. (On the model 185G, pull the linch pin(item 46), open the toggle clamp and swing both hinge bands to the open
position.
5.
Drape the cinch chain (item 25 or 26) across the front of the drum and insert one link into the slot on the ratchet handle (item
#32). Turn the ratchet handle clockwise to tighten the cinch chain around the drum (see detail). (On the model 185G, close
the two hinged bands around the drum, latch the toggle clamp, and insert the linchpin.)
6.
Raise hoist and position the drum at the pouring station.
7.
Pour the drum by pulling on the pull chain (item 3) and rotating the drum to a suitable pouring angle. For best control of drum
pouring angle, pay out one side of the loop while pulling in the other side, thus being able to hold back the drum rotation
after the load shifts.
8.
After pouring is completed, rotate the drum back to vertical position and lower hoist to return drum to floor.
9.
To remove drum: Pull ratchet handle to relieve pressure on ratchet teeth. Lift pawl handle (item 30) to release teeth engage-
ment and rotate ratchet to loosen chain and allow its removal from notch.
CAUTION:
DO NOT allow drum to impact on floor, ground, or dumping station, etc.
CAUTION:
DO NOT exceed weight capacity of 800 Lb. for FULL drum, 500 Lb. for HALF-FULL drum.
C. MAINTENANCE:
1.
Lubricate gear teeth and roller chain.
2.
Clean and oil ratchet, pawl, saddle hinge, and other moving parts periodically. (Clean & lubricate more often in environments
where dust, dirt or other foreign particles will effect the performance of moving parts.)
3.
Periodically inspect all moving parts, framework, and contact areas for signs of wear, fatigue, or loosening. Tighten adjust or
replace parts as necessary to prevent failure and maintain proper function.
