Questions and answers
The wire is not feeding through the welder. The trigger on the handle works and the gas sounds normal when sqeezing the trigger. The wire is lined up correctly and there appears to appropriate tension on the wire. It doesn't appear that the motor is attempting to turn. All chords are plugged in correctly as well. The temperature in my shop is around 5 degrees. It has been sub zero for approximately one week where I live. Everything sounds and works as normal except the wire isn't feeding. One last thing. I can pull the wire through with players and the wheel will turn when I do this. I need some help and direction. Thank you
If the wire is not feeding through the Titanium MIG 170 welder despite the trigger working and the gas sounding normal, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
1. Check the Wire Liner – Turn off the welder and push the wire liner back into the gun to ensure it is properly seated.
2. Inspect the Wire Spool – If the spool is stationary, turn off and unplug the welder. Slightly tighten the feed tensioner clockwise and retry.
3. Test Drive Tension – Press and hold the trigger to feed the wire against a piece of wood from 2 to 3 inches away. If the wire stops instead of bending, unplug the welder and incrementally tighten the feed tensioner clockwise until the wire bends under feed pressure.
4. Ensure Proper Contact Tip – Use a contact tip that matches the welding wire size to prevent feeding issues.
Following these checks should resolve the wire feeding issue.
