Your housing features two 1/2-20 threaded Accessory Ports which may be used for attachment of factory optional or aftermarket housing accessories. Visit ikelite.com for an updated list of factory optional accessories. Use the following steps to replace an Accessory Port Hole Plug with an accessory fitting: 1.
3. Set Touch Controls to “OFF.” When using ONLY the optical viewfinder, push the “info” button to display or change current settings. This will give you an instant glance at the camera settings on the LCD screen and allow quick adjustments.
Inserting the Camera 1. Remove any lanyard or neck strap which may be attached to the camera. 2. Check to see whether the camera’s lens will fit through the port opening of the housing. If not, the lens will need to be removed from the camera body and re-attached AFTER the camera body is installed in the housing.
Attaching the Hotshoe Your Ikelite housing features a factory installed hotshoe connector which allows manual flash with a wide variety of Ikelite and non-ikelite strobes. For automated TTL operation, an optional TTL hotshoe and TTL Converter are available for use with Ikelite DS-series TTL strobes.
Closing the Housing 1. Make sure the o-ring is clean and in its proper location on the back of the housing. The main housing o-ring does not require lubricant to make a seal. 2. Place the back onto the housing front. 3.
Zoom Clamp and Sleeve Zoom Clamp and Sleeve Type 1 installation Type 2 installation A compatible lens port is required for waterproof operation. Never submerge the housing without a lens port attached. Attaching the Lens Port 1. Lightly lubricate the o-ring on the port extension base. When properly lubricated, the o-ring should have an even, slightly shiny appearance.
2. Slide the port over the lens and secure to the front of the housing using the four installed Port Locks. Push each Port Lock in toward the port until you hear or feel a click. The Port Lock Release Button is spring-loaded and will drop into the locked position when properly engaged.
3. Make sure that the camera can obtain focus and take a photo. 4. Check battery life and open storage space on your memory card. 5. Submerge the housing in a fresh water tank dedicated to underwater photography equipment. Visually confirm that there are no signs of water intrusion or a steady stream of bubbles coming from one of the housing seals.
Strobes from IKELITE, SEA&SEA, INON, and Nikonos must be used in manual power modes when connected via electrical sync cord. Go to ikelite.com to select the correct cord for your strobe.
TTL Strobe Use When a compatible Ikelite DS-series strobe is attached via sync cord with optional TTL converter, circuitry built into the converter allows the strobe to communicate directly with the camera to trigger the strobe and adjust its power for perfect exposure. NOTE: The housing’s manual hotshoe must be replaced with the optional TTL hotshoe.
6. If using an Ikelite strobe, set the strobe to TTL. If using a non-Ikelite strobe, set the strobe to manual flash and select a manual power setting. 7. Turn on the strobe(s). 8. Turn on the camera. 9. Take a test photo to ensure that your strobe(s) are functioning properly.
Travel and Storage 1. Remove the camera from the housing for travel or storage. 2. Check the main housing o-ring. 3. Close the empty housing and submerge in lukewarm fresh water. While submerged, rotate each control and depress each button to flush out any salt or debris.

• Check each housing control while underwater to ensure that they are disengaged. An inadvertently engaged control may limit functioning of the camera. Backscatter or “snow” in images • Reposition strobe(s) or light(s) to light up the subject only and NOT the water in-between the camera and subject.
Ikelite provides silicone lubricant with the housing to lightly lubricate controls and o-rings. We recommend you use ONLY Ikelite lubricant on Ikelite products. Other brands may cause Ikelite o-rings to swell and not seal properly. Lubricant is not a sealant; it is used to reduce friction.
After a few minutes, operate the push button. If this does not correct the problem, return the housing to Ikelite for maintenance. If you are on a trip and unable to return the housing immediately, a push button may be lubricated by pressing and holding the push button all the way in.

In the unlikely event one of the control shafts sticks or becomes difficult to operate, you can remove the control from the housing and lubricate it, or return the housing to Ikelite for maintenance. Your housing may feature both round and hex style control glands. To remove a control in a round style gland, loosen the set screw in the knob (hex head wrench required);...

To lubricate the control, gently pull on the knob until the stainless steel shaft is exposed. Lightly lubricate the shaft, then move the shaft in and out several times. This will lubricate the x-ring in the Ikelite control gland. This should be done before using the housing after a prolonged storage period, or once a week when the housing is in constant use.
Control Gland Tighten down set screw against this flat area when replacing the knob Loosen Set Screw (Hex Head Wrench Required) Control Shaft Lubricate end of shaft before reinserting into gland If there is salt or dirt build-up on the exposed control shaft, clean the shaft.
