Important: Do not overfill the crankcase
with oil and run the engine; engine damage
can result.
Changing the Oil
1. Start the engine and let it run five minutes.
This warms the oil so it drains better.
2. Park the machine so that the drain side is
slightly lower than the opposite side to ensure
the oil drains completely.
3. Disengage the PTO and set the parking brake.
4. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for
all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
5. Place a pan below the drain. Rotate oil drain
valve to allow oil to drain (Figure 35).
6. When oil has drained completely, close the
drain valve.
Note: Dispose of the used oil at a recycling
center.

Engine Oil Level.
9. Slowly add the additional oil to bring it to the
Full mark.
Changing the Oil Filter
Replace the oil filter every 200 operating hours or

the operating conditions are extremely dusty or
sandy.
2. Oil drain hose

filter. Fill it up to the bottom of the threads
inside.
4. Allow the filter material to absorb the new oil
for 1 to 2 minutes.
5. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the rubber
gasket on the replacement filter (Figure 36).
6. Install the replacement oil filter to the filter
adapter, turn the oil filter clockwise until the
rubber gasket contacts the filter adapter, then
tighten the filter an additional 2/3 to 1 turn
(Figure 36).
7. Fill the crankcase with the proper type of new
oil; refer to Servicing the Engine Oil.
8. Run the engine for about 3 minutes, stop the
engine, and check for oil leaks around the oil
filter.
9. Check the engine oil level and add oil if needed.

Servicing the Spark Plugs

Check the spark plugs after every 200 operating
hours.
Ensure that the air gap between the center and
side electrodes is correct before installing the spark
plug. Use a spark plug wrench for removing and
installing the spark plugs and a gapping tool/feeler
gauge to check and adjust the air gap. Install a new
spark plugs if necessary.
