- Page 2 FIBER OPTIC STRIPPER PA1162 Operating Instructions 1. Preparing fiber optic cable for termination is a 3-step process to remove (in order): the jacket, the buffer and the acrylate. 2 . For each step, insert the cable into the corresponding strip cavity, close the handles and while holding the cable with one hand, pull the tool away from the cable with the other hand in a straight, direct motion. a. To remove jacket, insert fiber optic cable into the 2mm Jacket strip area. b. To remove buffer, insert cable with jacket removed into the 250 µm Buffer cavity. c. To remove acrylate, insert cable into 125 µm Fiber cavity. 3 . If the stripper is not stripping properly, corrections can be made by adjusting the set screws. See photo. Adjusting Set/Calibration Screws 1. Insert a 1.5mm hex key into set screw A of the gauge located on top of tool frame and turn it towards the left to loosen. The set screw must be loosened in order to make adjustments to the calibration screw on the side of the gauge. 2. After loosening set screw A, the calibration screw B on the side of the gauge can be adjusted using the same 1.5mm hex key. 3 . To make the score depth deeper, turn the screw to the left or to the right to decrease it. 4 . Once tool is adjusted to properly strip the cable, fully tighten set screw A. Mode d’emploi 1.
