SECTION 9
TROUBLE SHOOTING
SYMPTOM
Compressor fails to start.
Compressor starts but
stops after a short time.
Compressor does not
unload (or load).
Compressor cycles from
load to unload excessively.
Compressor is low on
delivery and pressure.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1. Wrong lead connections.
2. Blown fuses in control
box.
3. Motor starter overload
heaters tripped.
4. Pressure in reservoir.
5. Read error message on
control panel. See Section 4.
1. High discharge temperature.
2. High discharge
temperature switch
malfunction.
3. Blown fuse in starter/
control box.
4. Motor starter overload
heaters trip.
1. Improperly adjusted
control.
2. Air leak in control
lines.
3. Restricted control line.
1. Insufficient receiver capacity.
2. Restriction in service piping.
3. Restriction in control
tubing.
4. Plugged aftercooler.
1. Restricted air filter.
2. Sticking inlet valve.

REMEDY
1. Change leads.
2. Replace fuse.
3. Reset and investigate
cause of overload.
4. Inspect blowdown valve.
5. Replace switch.

(investigate if fuses
continue to blow).
4. Reset and investigate
cause of overload.

19, and adjust control.
2. Determine source of
leak and correct.

2. Inspect and clean service
piping.
3. Inspect and clean
control tubing.
4. Inspect and clean aftercooler.
1. Clean or replace filter.
2. Inspect and clean inlet
valve.
