Media Replacement Instructions
Turn power OFF to furnace & Fan
STEP 1. UNPLUG power supply cord from the DefendRx EAP by pulling out the power
cord attached at top of unit.
Depending on the model, either unlatch the clasp or pull up on the popup corners to
open the unit.
STEP 2. Separate the pad at top or powerhead area and gently pull carbon pad away
from the probe. Slowly remove the old media pad.
TIP: Consider having a garbage bag for the dirty pad. A damp (NOT WET) cloth or
disinfecting wipe will make quick work of any dust build up on the screen and frame
STEP 3a. Separate TOP PORTION of media ONLY revealing carbon pad and strings.
Slide plain glass portion of media UNDER metal probe.
STEP 3b. Ensure plain glass media is under probe and full carbon pad is above probe
TIP: When the pad is properly installed the carbon portion will connect with the probe.
In the event the black carbon pad is under the probe, flip media
STEP 4. Close frame ensuring the media is inserted totally into the unit. Press corner lift
tab until it locks. In case of latch, fully close to lock in the media
TIP: It is OK for media to be under slight pressure. The frame should easily snap or latch
back into place even is there is pressure exerted on frame
STEP 5. Reinsert your Electronic Air Purifier back into the filter channel on your system
or return (if installed in return air filter grill). Plug the power cord back in. Switch your
HVAC system back on.
TIP: Power light will turn on when there is active power. In the event your unit is
powered to the fan, it will only light up when the fan is operating. If the unit is powered
in such a way to be on all the time; the light will power up once you reinsert power cord
