If the power plug is removed from the wall outlet with the POWER lamp lit or blinking green, the printer cannot protect its print heads and may be unable to print.

    Switch on the printer or printer driver. You can also specify the type/size of paper to be fed from the Cassette for regular use with the printer driver. For example, you can specify that Letter-sized plain paper is always fed from the Cassette whenever you print.

  • Page 16 Basic Printing Adjust the size of the Cassette. When loading A5- or larger sized paper (nonstandard-size paper: 203 mm / 8 inches or more in length), extend the Cassette. When loading 5" x 7"- or smaller sized paper (nonstandard-size paper: less than 203 mm/ 8 inches in length), do not extend the Cassette.

    Press the RESUME/CANCEL button while printing. Printing is canceled and paper is fed out. You can also cancel a print job by clicking Cancel Printing on the Canon IJ Status Monitor. To display the Canon IJ Status Monitor, click Canon iP5200R on the taskbar.

    It is possible to specify which images to print and various print settings from the operation panel of your camera or mobile phone. Canon Bubble Jet Direct allows you to print photos from a Canon Bubble Jet Direct compatible (PictBridge incompatible) digital camera or digital video camcorder without a computer, by simply connecting the digital camera or digital camcorder to this printer.
  • Page 33: Connecting To A Pictbridge Compliant Device

    Do not connect any equipment other than PictBridge compliant devices or Canon Bubble Jet Direct compatible digital camera to the Direct Print Port of the printer. If you do so, electric shock, fire, or damage to the device could result.
  • Page 34 (1) Make sure the device is turned off. (2) Connect the device to the printer using the USB cable. The device turns on automatically, when connected to the printer. For a device not turns on automatically, turn it on manually.

    When an ink tank runs out of ink, replace it using the following steps. Ensure that the printer is on, and then open the Paper Output Tray. Push the Open Button above the Paper Output Tray. The Paper Output Tray automatically opens.
  • Page 47 Do not touch the electrical contacts on the ink tank. Doing so can cause the printer to malfunction or become unable to print. Do not squeeze the side of ink tanks as this may cause the ink to leak out and stain your clothes and hands.

    When an Error Occurs When an error occurs in printing such as the printer is out of paper or paper jams, a troubleshooting message is displayed automatically. Take the appropriate action described in the message.

    If the ink tank lamp is flashing fast, ink is empty. Replace the ink tank and close the Top Cover. If printing is not finished yet, just press the RESUME/CANCEL button on the printer to continue printing in the “no ink” state. Replace the ink tank as soon as possible after printing finishes.

    Cleaning the Paper Feed Rollers consumes them, so perform this procedure only when necessary. 1. Ensure that the printer is on and there is no paper loaded in the printer. 2. Select the Paper Feed Roller of the Auto Sheet Feeder or Cassette by pressing the Paper Feed Switch on the printer.

    After removing all paper, close the Top Cover, turn the printer off and turn it back on. • If you cannot pull the paper out, turn the printer off and turn it back on. The paper will be ejected automatically.
  • Page 78 2. Fold a piece of Letter-sized plain paper in four, push it in until it hits the jammed paper, then pull out the paper folded in four. 3. Close the Rear Cover, then press the POWER button of the printer to turn on the power.

    Handling Error Messages When a printer error occurs, the ALARM lamp flashes orange in the way as shown below. The number of flashes (orange) indicates the type of error that has occurred. Count the flashes and take the appropriate action to correct the error.
  • Page 82 An ink tank that was once empty is installed. Replace the ink tank. Printing under the situation may damage the Print Head. Canon shall not be liable for any printer malfunction or damage caused by refilled ink tanks. If you want to continue printing with the refilled ink tank installed, press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL button for at least 5 seconds, and then release it.

    If the error is still unresolved, there is a possibility that you are using a digital camera or digital video camcorder that is not supported by this printer. Use a digital camera or digital video camcorder compatible with this printer.

    Do not place the printer close to flammable solvents such as alcohol or thinners. Power supply Never attempt to plug in or unplug the printer from the power supply when your hands are wet. Always push the plug all the way into the power outlet.
