Getting Started Installing the Hardware The Kit contains: You will also need: • A IR Reflective Sensor 10cm • A PhidgetInterfaceKit 8/8/8 or a PhidgetTextLCD • A Sensor Cable • A USB Cable Connecting all the pieces Connect the IR Reflective Sensor 10cm to an Analog Input on the PhidgetInterfaceKit 8/8/8 board using the sensor cable.

Testing the IR Reflective Sensor 10cm connected to an InterfaceKit 8/8/8 Using Windows 2000/XP/Vista Double Click on the icon to activate the Phidget Control Panel and make sure that the Phidget InterfaceKit 8/8/8 is properly attached to your PC. Double Click on Phidget InterfaceKit 8/8/8 in the Phidget Control Panel to bring up InterfaceKit-full and check that the box labelled Attached contains the word True.

Technical Information This sensor can detect the presence of a highly reflective object at 10cm, for less reflective objects (like hands) the distance is about 5cm. The sensor will not detect objects that are more than 5 to 10cm away depending on the type of objects, but will detect objects that are closer than 5 to 10cm.
