5. OPERATION
Note:
The dial bore gauge is a comparator not a measuring device.
5.1.
ASSEMBLY
5.1.1.
Loosen the clamp screw at the top of the shaft. Insert the dial indicator into the probe
body until the pointer moves a minimum of 10 graduation marks (fig.1) on the dial.
5.1.2.
Use a ruler and measure the diameter of the bore. Match the diameter by selecting
a combination of anvils, spacer rings and if necessary use the distance piece
( see fig 2 for one example). Test it in the bore, you may have to change the spacer
rings, make a note of the length of the pieces used.
Note:
Make sure everything is secure before using.
5.2.
ZERO POINT ADJUSTMENT
5.2.1.
Use a ring gauge or micrometer as a reference for setting your zero point.
5.2.2.
Using the ring gauge/micrometer, insert the measuring head into the ring gauge.
Pivot the gauge, and watch the dial. The largest reading on the dial is the zero point.
Turn the bezel until the pointer points at the zero.
5.3.
MEASUREMENT
5.3.1.
Insert the measuring head into the bore.
5.3.2.
Pivot the gauge while checking the dial. The movement of the pointer will indicate if
the diameter you are measuring is oversized or undersized and by how much.
6. MAINTENANCE
DO NOT drop the gauge or assembled parts.
8
Wipe clean with a dry cloth.

If the gauge ceases to operate properly contact your Sealey stockist.
