In-situ Sling
USER INSTRUCTION MANUAL
The In-Situ sling is designed for patients who have to remain in the sling for an
extended period, such as for bed making. It is suitable for the lifting of amputees,
but patients must be individually assessed for suitability by a qualified person.
Advice is available from our authorised dealers.
OXFORD RECOMMENDS THE USE OF GENUINE OXFORD PARTS.
Oxford sling and lift products are designed to be compatible with one another. For country specific guidance on sling
use and compatibility, please refer to the sling label or contact your local market distributor or Joerns Healthcare.
For the safety of the patient and carer; before using a sling a full risk assessment must be conducted to ensure that the
correct sling choice, method of positioning in the sling and procedure for transfer has been determined for the patient.
Check sling and stitching before each use. Using bleached, torn, cut, frayed or broken slings is unsafe and could result
in serious injury or death to the patient.
Destroy and discard worn slings. Do not alter slings.
Never leave a patient unattended.
Additional slings are available to suit individual needs.

  • Page 2 HOW TO FIT AN IN-SITU SLING IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE USE • DO NOT use a sling unless it is recommended for use with the lift. • A LWAYS check the sling is suitable for the particular patient and is of the correct size and capacity. • NEVER use a sling which is frayed or damaged. • ALWAYS fit the sling according to the instructions provided (user instructions). • A LWAYS check the safe working load of the lift is suitable for the weight of the patient. RECUMBENT POSITION: Using good manual handling techniques, roll the patient towards you so that you are positioned on their side.
  • Page 3 HOW TO FIT AN IN-SITU SLING Move the lift into position above the patient. Attach the side suspenders (if used), keeping them away from the patients face. Attach the shoulder straps and leg loops to the respective front and rear hooks on the spreader bar, ensuring the same coloured loops are used on each side.
