GENERATING SET USE STARTING THE ENGINE SAFETY CAUTION: • Never start-up the generating set with devices connected to the receptacles, this could cause their deterioration. 1. Put the stopping lever [1] on position “I” (fully raised to the limit stop). 2.
  • Page 12: Oil Safety System

GENERATING SET USE OIL SAFETY SYSTEM The oil safety system is intended to avoid any risk of damage to the engine caused by a lack of oil in the lower housing. As soon as the oil level has reached a safety limit, the oil safety system releases the decompression lever [1] which, on raising, automatically stops the engine.
  • Page 13: Operation Of The Generating Set

GENERATING SET USE OPERATION OF THE GENERATING SET SAFETY Your Honda generating set is a reliable piece of equipment, developed to ensure your safety. It can help you carry out work more easily and bring improvements to your leisure time, but there is also a risk of electrocution if you do not follow strictly the instructions for use given in this chapter.
  • Page 14: Information On The Construction Of The Generating Set

GENERATING SET USE INFORMATION ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE GENERATING SET The generator windings are not connected to the earth; the system is thus safe by construction and limits the risks of electrocution. It is strictly forbidden to connect the coils to the generator earth, except when using a 30 mA differential circuit breaker for the protection of persons.

Otherwise, the frequency and the voltage supplied will not correspond to the rated values, causing damage to the devices connected. 1. Choose the appropriate voltage using the voltage selector switch [3] (the EC4D model only). 2. Connect machines to the receptacles, taking care not to exceed the maximum current specified for each receptacle.
  • Page 16: Maintenance

MAINTENANCE To ensure that the generating set performs correctly and has a long working life, it is essential that the maintenance schedule be observed. SAFETY CAUTION: • The engine and the muffler reach temperatures sufficient to cause burns if touched and to start a fire if adjacent to inflammable material.
  • Page 17: Changing The Oil

MAINTENANCE CHANGING THE OIL CAUTION: • Prolonged and frequent contact with used engine oil can cause skin cancer. Although this is unlikely, it is sensible to wash your hands thoroughly after handling used engine oil. Drain the oil while the engine is still warm so that the oil flows out quickly and completely. 1.
  • Page 18: Servicing The Air Cleaner

MAINTENANCE SERVICING THE AIR CLEANER The engine will not run properly if the air cleaner is dirty: it is very important that the air cleaner is serviced regularly. Never use petrol or inflammable solvents to clean air cleaner elements: these products can cause fire and damage the air cleaner elements.
  • Page 19: Maintenance Of The Engine Oil Filter

MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE OF THE ENGINE OIL FILTER A clogged or blocked oil filter may cause damage to the engine. The oil filter must be maintained regularly according to the quality of the oil used and the conditions of use of the generating set. Cleaning 1.
  • Page 20: Maintenance Of Spark Arrester

MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE OF SPARK ARRESTER The muffler reaches sufficiently high temperatures to cause burns when the engine is running and remains hot for a while after stopping. If the generating set has just been used, leave to cool afterwards. 1. Loosen the collar clamp [1] of the muffler tube. Remove the spark arrester [2], taking care not to damage it.
