1. Introduction Thank you for purchasing the halcyonics_vario basic system. By selecting the halcyonics_vario basic- _40/60/90 system, you have acquired a top-of-the-line active vibration isolation equipment. We feel con- fident that our system will meet your expectations and provide the best possible performance for your specific application.
Do not operate the system in a potentially explosive or humid environment. Do not switch on the system if there is any visible damage or if you think it might be damaged. In this case, turn off the power immedi- ately and notify our distributor in your area or contact Accurion’s headquarters in Germany directly. Electrical Safety This system may be operated only on AC grounded power.
Getting Started and Operation Setting Up the Equipment To obtain best performance from the Vario Basic 40/60/90, set it up on a stable, rigid and flat surface. For optimal operating results, the planarity of the support surface should be 0.5 mm. If you set up the Vario Basic 40/60/90 system on a table or bench frame, make sure that the table is dis- tortion-free and stiff.
The Vario Basic isolation elements require a mechanical link to connect both elements. A commonly used medium is an optical breadboard. Static Load Adjustment and Transportation Lock The top parts of the isolation elements are supported by four steel springs. These springs carry the static load that has been placed on top.
The springs can be prestressed by turning the lever on the side of the element (see Fig. left hand side below). In the initial state the lever is inside the element and it must be moved outside through the hole in the side panel.
Vario Basic Control Unit Vario Basic systems are supplied with an external control unit. For systems with four isolation elements, we supply a 4-port control unit. Controller Front Display The controller front display of the Vario Basic system is equipped with a main power switch, an on/off switch for the active isolation mode and several LEDs.
6. Appendix Care and Maintenance The Vario Basic 40/60/90 system has been carefully designed and manufactured by Halcyonics. To maintain this equipment and the validity of your warranty, you should observe the following recommendations: Store the system in a dry place. Never expose it to rain, liquids or dampness. The minerals con- tained in these liquids may lead to short-circuits or corrosion of the electronic circuits.
