Installing the Surge Arrester Kit
The following procedures are general steps for a typical installation. For additional information, please contact Technical

To prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage when handling electronic equipment, always wear an anti-static
WARNING
:
wrist strap attached to an unpainted, grounded metal object. Ensure the wrist strap has maximum contact with bare skin.
NOTE:
For recti er types other than JA
do not need to install the Storm Trapper HE Surge Arrester.

Power Off All Devices & Install Storm Trapper
Ensure power has been terminated on recti er and all devices.

Install Storm Trapper HE Surge Arrester on AC input:

Install black leads across Line 1 and Line 2 of recti er's AC input.

These lines should be routed to the breaker.
Connect white lead to recti er chassis.

NOTE:
If an arrestor is already installed on the AC input, then install the Storm
Trapper HE Surge Arrester in parallel. Replace spade terminals with
terminals for easier connection to where existing arrester is connected.
Secure Storm Trapper HE Surge Arrester by zip-tie to suitable location or

place on oor of recti er.

Install DC Lightning Arrestor & Surge Detector
Attach DC Lightning Arrestor's black leads to recti er

Thread
DC Lightning
the Surge Detector's current transformer.

Connect a spade connector (included in kit) to the end of the
Arrestor's white wire and connect to common ground location.

Wire and connect the Surge Detector to the Bullhorn RMU's digital Channel 5. Be
sure to observe proper polarity.

Polarity is not important as long as one wire is on the positive input and the other is
on the negative input.
