SafeTRAC Installation Instructions
1. Mount Camera to Windshield
Using the template supplied with your unit, carefully position the pre-assembled camera and
bracket on your vehicle windshield. After test-fitting, remove the protective film from the
90°
adhesive and firmly press the unit into place. Maintain pressure for 15 seconds.
Notes:
Make sure that unit is precisely level (left-to-right) with respect to the road surface.
Make sure that the unit is positioned as close to the center of the vehicle as possible.
Make sure that the unit is positioned within the area swept by the vehicle windshield
wipers.
When properly installed, the camera is tilted forward at approximately 9°.

2. Install Wiring Harness
Install the system wiring harness as shown in the Installation Overview. Route the camera
cable along the vehicle headliner and A-pillar, as shown in the diagram. Make sure enough
90°
cable is present above the windshield to connect/disconnect the camera unit without stretching
the cable.
Notes:
Make sure the cable is not pinched or cut during installation.
Position the data download cable so it can be easily retrieved and connected to a
portable PC for data download operations.
Depending on the specific vehicle, either A-pillar may be used to route the cable.
3. Install Processor Module
Using the supplied cable ties, mount the system processing unit under the vehicle dashboard.
Observe these precautions:
Make sure the wiring harness connector is not blocked.
Make sure the unit does not interfere with any moving parts.
Make sure the unit is well clear of the control pedals.
4. Install Operator Mute Button
Locate or cut a rectangular opening in the control panel or dashboard to accomodate the mute
switch. Pull the mute button cable (four spade connectors) through the opening and connect it
to the mute button as shown below:
Lamp+ (Red)

CAUTION: Disconnect vehicle battery before proceeding.
Connect the five leads from the vehicle wiring cable as shown below:
+ 12 VDC
GROUND
Left turn signal
Right turn signal
Brake lights
NOTES:
To avoid draining battery, connect +12VDC to a switched power source which is only powered
when vehicle ignition is ON.
Brake and turn signal inputs must provide a transition from 0V to +12VDC when turn signal
or brake is on.
The lead number is printed on insulation, as shown. If you need to shorten the cable,
refer to the insulation markings to identify the correct cable.
3 additional black cables and one orange cable that will be visible if you shorten the
cable; make sure to connect the black wire labeled "1 ONE" to ground; the additional
black wires (2, 3, and 4) are not connected.
6. Connect System Cable to Processor
Connect the 12-pin system cable connector to the latching connector on the processing unit, then
re-connect vehicle battery.
See Troubleshooting SafeTRAC Installation for instructions on verifying proper SafeTRAC
