OPERATION

The Call Station Extension (CX-B) extends the functionality of a Call Station. One or two may
be fitted to a Call Station. Refer also to the Installation Instructions.
Controls and indicators (fig. 1)
1. Zone (or zone group) selection buttons
2. Zone (or zone group) selection indicators (yellow LEDs)
3. Zone (or zone group) identification covers and labels
4. All-call zone selection button (see note below)
Note: Button 8 (item 4) is pre-set for all-call (message to all zones). This button cannot be re-pro-
grammed. All other buttons can be user-programmed for zone or groups of zones.
To make a call (fig. 2)
Select a zone (or group of zones) using the zone selection buttons (items 1).
The yellow selection indicator (items 2) next to the selected button illuminate. (fig. 2a)
Note: Zones (or groups of zones) that have already been selected can be de-selected by pressing the
selection button again.
Press and hold the PTT button on the Call Station.
If the chime feature is selected, the on-air indicator will flash during the chime. It is not
possible to make a call while this indicator is flashing. (fig. 2b)
When the on-air indicator illuminates continuously, the microphone is active and a call
can be made. (fig. 2c)
Note: If the system busy indicator on the Call Station is illuminated, another Call Station is making a
call. (fig. 3). If the active Call Station has the same or higher priority, it is not possible to make a call
with this Call Station.
To end a call (fig. 3):
Release the PTT button.
The on-air indicator and zone selection indicator(s) on the CX-B will go out.
Default zone selection buttons (fig. 4)
The Call Station Extensions are factory set for specific zones or groups of zones for
each button.
Button identification labels
For convenience, pre-printed zone identification labels are supplied with the Call Station Exten-
sion. The plastic covers (item 3) are removed by carefully levering off with a screwdriver.
