System Fan Installation and Replacement

CSa 1000 & SMA 6200/7200/6210/7210
This document provides instructions for removing a system fan module
and installing a replacement in the following SonicWall appliances:
• Capture Security Appliance (CSa) 1000
• Secure Mobile Access (SMA) 6200/7200/6210/7210
NOTE: It is not necessary to power down the appliance.

Removing the System Fan from the Appliance

To remove a defective fan from the back of the appliance:
1 Locate the fan unit that needs to be replaced.
2 Loosen the retaining thumbscrew with your fingers or a Phillips
(cross) screwdriver if necessary.
3 Noting the fan's orientation in the appliance, pull the handle all the
way open until it is pointing straight back. This disengages the fan's
contacts.
4 Wait several seconds for the fan to stop spinning.
5 Pull outward to completely remove the fan module, and set it
aside.

Inserting a System Fan into the Appliance

WARNING: Do NOT insert anything except the SonicWall fan
module into the appliance.
To install a new fan module in the appliance:
1 Insert the fan module into the empty slot using the same
orientation you noted when you removed the defective module.
2 Push the fan module firmly into place until it is completely seated
and snaps into place.
3 Return the retaining bracket across the fan module and tighten the
retaining screw with a screwdriver to securely fasten the bracket.
4 Confirm that the new fan is operating correctly.

Retrait du ventilateur
1 Repérez le ventilateur à remplacer.
2 Desserrez la vis de fixation moletée avec vos doigts ou à l'aide d'un
tournevis cruciforme.
3 Notez l'orientation du ventilateur dans l'appareil et tirez sur la
poignée pour l'ouvrir complètement, jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit bien
droite vers l'extérieur. Cela dégage les contacts du ventilateur.
4 Attendez quelques secondes que le ventilateur arrête de tourner.
5 Tirez le module de ventilation vers l'extérieur pour le retirer
complètement de l'appareil et mettez-le de côté.
Insertion d'un ventilateur système dans l'appareil
AVERTISSEMENT : N'INSÉREZ AUCUN OBJET autre qu'un
module de ventilation dans l'appareil.
Pour installer un nouveau module de ventilation dans l'appareil :
1 Insérez le nouveau module de ventilation dans le logement vide
dans le sens noté lors du retrait du module défectueux.
2 Poussez le module de ventilation fermement jusqu'à ce qu'il soit
complètement inséré et qu'il s'enclenche en place.
3 Replacez la ferrure de retenue contre le module de ventilation et
serrez la vis de fixation à l'aide d'un tournevis pour fixer fermement
la ferrure.
4 Vérifiez que le nouveau ventilateur fonctionne correctement.

2 Lösen Sie mit einem Kreuzschlitzschraubendreher die Schraube,
die das zu entfernende Lüftermodul hält.
3 Öffnen Sie den Griff so weit, bis er gerade nach hinten zeigt.
Dadurch lösen sich die Kontakte.
4 Warten Sie einige Sekunden, bis der Lüfter gestoppt hat.
5 Ziehen Sie das Lüftermodul heraus, um es vollständig aus der
Appliance zu entfernen.
