Installation
If you do not have any specialist knowledge about installation please have
installation carried out by a professional or a corresponding specialist
workshop.
The plug-in card as well as your computer and all connected devices will be
damaged by improper installation.
S witch off the computer in which the plug-in card is to be inserted and all
connected devices and disconnect all devices from the power supply. Pull out
the mains plug! Simply turning off the devices using the on/off switch does not
mean a device is voltage-free!
• Open your computer's case and remove the lid carefully.
• Locate a free PCIe slot, remove its slot bracket and insert the USB card into the PCIe slot.
Fasten the USB card in place using screws (your computer case may feature screwless
installation).
A short slot bracket is included to install the plug-in card into a flat computer
casing. Remove the long slot bracket from the plug-in card and afterwards
install the short slot bracket.
• Connect the power supply. The card can directly supply the USB ports with power. It
is recommended, though, to supply the card via the 15-pin SATA connector in order to
guarantee sufficient power supply to any devices connected.
Ensure that the cables do not reach into the fan of the computer. Secure these
with cable ties.
• Reclose your computer's case.
• Connect your computer and monitor to the power supply and turn on all devices.
• If your computer does not start up normally, turn it off immediately and check all settings
and cable connections.
The computer should be disconnected from the supply voltage before reopening
it, see above.
Driver installation
• Windows recognizes the plug-in card automatically. Stop the automatic search for
drivers and/or hardware recognition.
• Insert the included data medium into the corresponding drive on your computer and start
the installation program on the CD. Follow all instructions in the installation program/
Windows
.
®
• You need to restart your computer after installing the driver for the USB card to function
properly.
Tips and notes
• A USB3.1 port can also supply USB3.0/2.0/1.1 devices with respective speeds.
• Each of the USB card's USB3.1 ports supplies an output current of 900 mA.
• USB3.1 provides a theoretical transfer rate of 10 GBit/s (equaling to approx. 1250 MByte/s).
However, the actual speed reached during operation will depend on the devices
transferring data (e.g. internal and external hard drive), the type of data (many small files
or few large files) and many other factors.
• In order to take advantage of the high USB3.1 data transfer rate, a USB 3.1 controller is
required in addition to a USB3.1 end device and a suitable USB3.1 cable.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste.
