Triceratops
Triceratops was one of the latest dinosaurs that lived in the late Cretaceous. It was an
herbivorous dinosaur. The remains of the triceratops were only found in the Rocky
Mountains of North America and the eastern foothills. In the late Cretaceous period,
this area was a wooded plain.

Features

Triceratops means "three-horned-face". This dinosaur is made
dis�nc�ve by the three horns on the skull that sit upon a large,
bony frill. Triceratops has a large four-legged body that is similar
to the modern rhinoceros. Triceratops and tyrannosaurus lived in
the same period, so the role of its horns and shields were likely to
defend against large predators. While the horns were sharp, they
could also be broken during collisions. Triceratops' large bony frill
protected its neck, but it also helped regulate the dinosaur's body
temperature.
