Prior to using your light stand, please read
these instructions carefully. Keep them safe
to have them at hand at any time. If you pass
the light stand on to somebody else, always
include these instructions.
1. Intended use
The Kaiser „AutoFold S" (A) and „AutoFold L"
(B) light stands are intended to be used with
lights or flashguns. A 5/8" reversible thread
pin (8) with 1/4" and 3/8" mounting threads
is supplied with the light stand for attaching
lights or flashguns. An additional accessory
may be needed for attaching certain lights/
flashguns (for example a mounting shoe,
code no. 1216 or a joint with clamping shoe,
code no. 1203).
Use the light stand only as described in these
instructions. Any other use has to be consi-
dered as not as intended and can result in
material damage or physical injury. This light
stand is not a toy.
Kaiser Fototechnik takes no responsibility for
damages caused by not intended or incorrect
use.
2. Safety notice
Always take care of a safe stand: The center
column (3) should be in a vertical position. If
the balance point of a mounted device (light/
flashgun) is outside the direction of the center
column, then it should be directed towards
one of the legs (5) of the stand.
Please make sure that all locking screws (2)
and fixing screws (1), (6) are tightened.
Do not exceed the maximum permissible
load*.
Hold the light stand only above the leg sus-
pension (4) to avoid pinching your fingers.
* The maximum permissible load refers to a center-
mounted balanced device (light/flashgun) on a center
column (3) in vertical position. The segments of the
column must not be extended more than 2/3 of their
total length.

3. Preparing the light stand (fig. C – E)
Unfasten the fixing screw (6) and slide the leg
suspension (4) downwards until it rests on the
blue ring (10). Tighten the fixing screw (6) again.
The light stand is now ready for use.
4. Using the light stand
Lifting the light stand will make the legs fold
towards the center column, now touching
the center column to the ground will cause
the legs to move apart automatically (fig. F).
Please take care of a "soft touchdown" of
the center column to avoid damage to a
mounted device (light/flashgun). Also watch
for enough space for the legs.
Please check fig. G when setting the height
of the stand. The center column is equipped
with an air cushion to protect a mounted de-
vice (light/flashgun) against damage.
The 5/8" reversible thread pin (8) with 1/4"
and 3/8" mounting threads can be attached
to the head (7) of the stand in vertical or hori-
zontal position.
The AutoFold L light stand (3188) is equipped
with a cable retainer (9) for fixing the light's
power cord.
5. Storing the light stand (fig. H – K)
To achieve a more compact pack size and to
avoid the legs from moving out automatically,
you should unfasten the fixing screw (6) when
the stand is set up, and slide the leg suspen-
sion (4) upwards as far as possible. Now tigh-
ten the fixing screw (6) again.
6. Maintenance and care
The light stand is maintenance-free. Clean it
with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use petrol or
other cleaning liquids or solvents.
7. Accessories
1216 Mounting shoe, with
1/4" tripod thread.
1203 Metal joint with clamping
shoe and umbrella mount,
fastening on 16 mm (5/8")
standard spigot, height
