4-1. B Board Adjustment

4-1-1. Preparation

. Required tools and measuring equipment
Oscilloscope
Signal generator (VG-854 or equivalent)
. Preparation of signal
Use the output signals from VG-854 that meet the
following signal specifications.
The DTV signal output form VG-854 must be sync-on-
green.
. Types of signal
YPBP SMPTE/EBU-N10 (601, 709) 100% color bar
signal (BKM-129X input level)
700 ± 5 mVp-p
Y
700 ± 5 mVp-p
B-Y (PB)
700 ± 5 mVp-p
R-Y (PR)
COMP SYNC 5 ± 0.5 Vp-p (negative polarity)
4-1-2. 15 kHz Component Signal Adjustment
(BLACK level adjustment)
1. Select the VG-854 signal format of 15 kHz/60 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (601) 100% color bar signal.
2. Set INPUT of the LCD monitor to COMPONENT.
3. Connect an oscilloscope to TP1310.
4. Adjust the "20 MTRX/PB BLACK" data until the
pedestal level becomes flat as shown in Fig. 4-1.

5. Connect an oscilloscope to TP1311.
6. Adjust the "21 MTRX/PR BLACK" data until the
pedestal level becomes flat as shown in Fig. 4-2.

Make this portion flat.
0 ± 5 mV
Make this portion flat.

7. Select the VG-854 signal format of 15 kHz/50 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (601) 100% color bar signal.
8. Repeat the above adjustment of steps 3 to 6 again.
4-1-3. 31 kHz Component Signal Adjustment
(BLACK level adjustment)
1. Select the VG-854 signal format of 31 kHz/60 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (601) 100% color bar signal.
2. Set INPUT of the LCD monitor to COMPONENT.
3. Repeat steps 3 to 6 section 4-1-2.
4. Select the VG-854 signal format of 31 kHz/50 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (601) 100% color bar signal.
4-1-4. 33 kHz (1080i) System Component
Signal Adjustment
(BLACK level adjustment)
1. Select the VG-854 signal format of 33 kHz/60 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (709) 100% color bar signal.
2. Set INPUT of the LCD monitor to COMPONENT.
3. Repeat steps 3 to 6 section 4-1-2.
4. Select the VG-854 signal format of 33 kHz/50 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (709) 100% color bar signal.
5. Repeat steps 3 to 6 section 4-1-2.
6. Select the VG-854 signal format of 33 kHz/48 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (709) 100% color bar signal.
7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 section 4-1-2.
4-1-5. 45 kHz Component Signal Adjustment
(BLACK level adjustment)
1. Select the VG-854 signal format of 45 kHz/60 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (709) 100% color bar signal.
2. Set INPUT of the LCD monitor to COMPONENT.
3. Repeat steps 3 to 6 section 4-1-2.
4-1-6. 67.5 kHz Component Signal
Adjustment
(BLACK level adjustment)
1. Select the VG-854 signal format of 67.5 kHz/60 Hz
YPBPR SMPTE (709) 100% color bar signal.
2. Set INPUT of the LCD monitor to COMPONENT.
3. Repeat steps 3 to 6 section 4-1-2.
