EXAMPLE 2:
To test the LNB input of a satellite receiver
1. Disconnect the satellite receiver from the wall socket or LNB
feed cable. Connect the TV/SAT Power Tester DC IN (Source) to
the satellite receiver input 1 or input 2.
2. Check the voltage is either 18V for horizontal or 13V for vertical
polarity. If using a Sky Q receiver check there is 12V from either
input.
3. If the voltage is correct, connect the TV/SAT Power Tester DC
OUT (Load) to the wall socket or LNB. Press the red test button.
Check the voltage and current display.
4. If the voltage displayed is now lower than at {step3.} or the
current is higher than the equipment ratings label, there is a
fault in the installation. Check the 22 KHz LED is illuminated if a
high-band signal is selected.
5. Any fault is most likely found at a connection point, such as a
whisker of coaxial cable braid shorting across the centre
conductor in the wall socket or at a connector. The fault could
also be a faulty LNB or line amplifier.
Note: Sky HD receivers have 2 inputs. Each can independently supply
13V or 18V DC up to a combined maximum of 275mA.
Note: SkyQ receivers have 2 inputs. Each input can supply only 12V DC
up to a combined maximum up to 275mA.
