Outdoor Big Point
The Outdoor Big Point is extremely versatile and can be used indoors or out.
There are lots of ways to use it as it can be adapted to meet the child's interest.
With a thirty second record time and a removable window panel, your own text
or images can be added to aid activities or describe what children may hear.
We know you'll think of lots of ways to use this exciting resource as you take ICT
outdoors, but here are a few suggestions to get you started:
Using Pre-recorded messages
Make a Treasure Trail
Leave clues recorded on the Outdoor Big Point for children to listen to and follow.
You could use numbers or visual cues to help children follow clues in the right
sequence.
Leave a Message...
Leave messages, jokes, instructions, greetings, puzzles etc. for children around
your setting or classroom as part of a task or simply making your area more
interactive.
Display
Making a talking wall, display, gallery etc. can now be taken outdoors with the
Outdoor Big Point.
Set a Challenge
Outdoor Big Points can be used indoors or out to give instructions or challenges.
Here are a few ideas we had:
Go and find something made of wood, metal, plastic etc.
n
Can you find something red, green, blue, etc.
n
Find something that is living, clear, opaque, shiny, etc.
n
Find something that is a circle, triangle, square, etc.
n
What's Missing?
Record rhymes and songs. Leave a message with the start of a rhyme for
children to finish themselves. Alternatively, record a sentence and miss out a
word, then ask children what is missing.
