SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• Read these instructions carefully before using your appliance for the first time and keep to
hand for future reference: the manufacturer shall accept no liability in the event of any use
that does not comply with the instructions.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible
for their safety.
• Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• It is designed to work with alternating current only. We would ask you, before using it for
the first time, to check that the voltage of your mains network corresponds to the voltage
given on the rating plate on the appliance.
• Any connection fault invalidates the guarantee.
• The appliance must be connected to a socket-outlet having an earthing contact.
• Given the diverse standards in effect, if the appliance is used in a country other than that
in which it is purchased, have it checked by an Approved Service Agent.
• Do not operate the appliance when empty or with the accessories in the bowl.
• Do not place or use this appliance on a hotplate or near to a naked flame (gas cooker).
• Use the product on flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from sources of heat or water
splashes. Do not turn the appliance over.
• Do not remove the seal lid until the blades have come to a complete stop.
• Disconnect the appliance:
- before assembly and disassembly,
- if it fails during operation,
- before cleaning or maintenance,
- after use.
• Never disconnect the appliance by pulling on the power cord.
• Do not use an extension lead. If you accept liability for doing so, only use an extension
lead which is in good condition, has a plug with an earth connection and is suited to the
power rating of the appliance.
• Do not use your appliance if it does not operate correctly, if it has been damaged or if the
power cord or plug is damaged. To maintain safety, these parts must be replaced by an
Approved Service Centre.
• Any intervention other than normal cleaning and maintenance by the customer must be

performed by an Approved Service Centre.
• Always unplug the appliance if you are to leave it unattended and before fitting the blades
(E, F & G).
• Check the electrical power cord for signs of wear or damage prior to each period of use. If
the electrical power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an Approved Service Agent to
avoid any danger (see list in the service booklet).
• Completely unwind the power cord before plugging into an earthed socket.
• Do not leave the power cord within reach of children.
• The power cord should never be near to or in contact with hot surfaces, near to a heat
source or sharp edges.
• Do not place the appliance, the power cord or the plug in water or any other liquid.
• Your appliance is for domestic use only. In the event of any commercial use, inappropriate
use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility
and the guarantee will not apply.
• For you own safety, only use accessories and spare parts from the appliance manufacturer,
which are especially designed for your appliance.
• For your safety, this appliance complies with applicable standards and laws:
- Low Voltage Directive
- Electromagnetic Compatibility
- Environment
- Materials in contact with food.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Before first use, remove all packaging materials, stickers and accessories from inside and
outside of the appliance.
• Carefully wash the accessories (C,D,E,F,G,H&J) in warm water with a little washing up liquid,
rinse and dry thoroughly.
• Attention: the blades are very sharp, handle cutting accessories (E,F & G) with caution when
using or cleaning your appliance. Always handle the blade accessories by the upper part
taking care not to touch the blades.
Before using for the first time, wash the accessories (C, D, E, F, G , H & J) in soapy water.
Rinse and dry carefully.
Attention: the blades are very sharp, handle cutting accessories (E, F & G) with caution
when using or cleaning your appliance. Always take the blade accessories by the upper part
taking care not to touch the blades.
Tip: for more comfortable use, it is advisable to position the pad (J) under the bowl (H), to
be used as a nonslip base. You can also use it as a lid on top of the bowl to protect your
freshly blended ingredients.
Chopping and Blending Function (blades E, F & G):
For coarse chopping, the lower blade can be used on its own. For finer chopping, blending,
pureeing, etc. using both the blades gives a superior result.
• Place the bowl (H) on a clean, dry surface where there is no risk of it falling.
• Place the lower blade (G) inside the blending bowl and on the bowl shaft (I) (Fig. 1).
