Low Temperature / Flying with cold batteries:
1.
Battery capacity can be reduced when flying in low temperature (< 0°C) environments.
2.
It is highly recommended that the battery should not be used in environments where
temperatures are lower than -25°C.
3.
In order to fly quickly in cold environments, it is possible to warm the batteries using body
heat. Once the batteries get to 5°C the aerial warmup procedure becomes available.
4.
Internal battery temperature must reach 5°C in order to perform aerial warmup procedure.
During this procedure, the aircraft will fly hover until the battery warms to 15°C. Once this
happens, manual control is possible at speeds less than 20kph. After the battery
reaches 20°C, full speed flights are again possible.
4.
End the flight as soon as it displays the "Low Battery Level Warning" in low temperature
environments.
5.
The charger will stop charging the battery if the battery cell's temperature is not within the
operating range (between 0°C and 40°C ).
6.
Internal heater: Gen2 batteries have internal heating elements. If the battery is turned on
(press, press-hold of power button) in an environment where the internal temperature
of the battery is less than 15°C, the heating element will be activated. To raise the internal
temperature of the a cold battery to operational levels one time, as much as, 10-15% of the
charge can be spent.
NOTE: Early versions of Gen2 batteries have slightly di erent firmware settings. If batteries
are not warming up as expected, please contact Support@AtlasDynamics.EU
Checking the Charge Level:
The charge level Indicators display the remaining power. In order to check the battery level, turn on/o
the battery, press the button in the following sequence: press/release - press/hold in quick succession.
The indicators will light up, one by one, then display the current level.
To check the charge of the battery, press the button once and LEDs will show how much charge remains.
Battery error codes:
3 flashing LEDs - Current overdraw warning.
4 flashing LEDs - High internal temperature, allow battery to cool down before using.
Battery Chargers:
The dual charger is capable of providing power for a Smart Battery and an AtlasSTATION or
AtlasRELAY simultaneously. A "car charger" version of this is also available, upon request, which will
enable trickle charging from a 12V automobile "cigarette lighter" port.
Charging Batteries:
1.
Connect the Battery Charger to a power source (100-240 V 50/60 Hz).
2.
Connect one end of the charger to the Intelligent Flight Battery. Insert charger connector
when battery is switched o .
3.
Knowing the battery level: The charge level indicator will display the current battery level as it
is charging.
4.
If the battery is plugged in and the charge level indicators are all o , this means the battery is
fully charged.
6.
Allowing the battery to cool after each flight, and before charging, will ensure the internal
temperature will allow charging immediately.
