VTC Test

The VTC Test function lets you perform a check of the vehicle's Variable
Timing Control (VTC) system.
1. Select VTC Test in the Active Test menu, then press ENTER
An "instructional" screen displays. Prepare the vehicle for test as
n
directed:
- Make sure all vehicle electrical devices are OFF.
- Make sure the steering wheel is in the center position, and DO
NOT move during testing.
- Start and idle the engine.
- Set the parking brake.
- Place the transmission in neutral.
2. Choose Continue to proceed.
If DTCs are present in the vehicle's computer, an "advisory"
screen displays. Clear DTCs before proceeding.
An "instructional" screen displays. Perform the following:
n
- Press and hold the accelerator to maintain engine speed
between 3500-4000 RPM.
- Maintain engine speed above
3000 RPM for the duration of the
test.
A "status" screen displays while the
n
test is in progress. The screen
shows Engine Speed and Valve
Timing.
3. Maintain engine speed above 3000
RPM for the duration of the test.
