- Page 3 MEASURING INSTRUMENTS 1 PREFACE This instrument consists of hardened aluminium casing containing a spirit level, a laser emitter and two permanent magnets. The spirit level is used as a horizontal reference level. The laser generator projects a point. The permanent magnets are used to make it integral with the iron parts.
