The command allows the user to regulate the primary and secondary air input and choose
between maximum power (moving the control towards right) and maximum performance
(moving the control towards left). Open the door of the insert and move the primary +
secondary air control to the the right (+). Place some kindling or wood chips in the bottom
of the burning chamber and light it up. Once there is a good lit is developed, open the door
very slowly to avoid gases in the room, and place bigger pieces of wood or logs on the top
of the flame. After the flame is consistent and developed, adjust the primary + secondary air
command as required.
Details primary and secondary air command
Primary + Secondary air
Always use proper protective gloves when necessary to touch warm parts of the
equipment and/or to load the insert during operation.
NOTE
The insert is designed to heat up with maximum efficiency. Choosing maximum performance
will make the insert work for several hours. In this mode, less power output and less fuel
consumption is achieved as well as higher gases emissions and a less clean glass. Other
consequence is the formation of tar in the burning chamber, chimney and glass as result of
the incomplete combustion. Choosing maximum power will generate less pollution and a
cleaner glass. However it will consume more fuel and lower performance. To achieve the best
performance and power, IKOS recommends to gradually close the air intake (move the control
towards left) once a well-developed flame and temperature of the insert is achieved.
