SHUT OFF THE GAS SUPPLY AT A MANUAL VALVE IN THE SUPPLY PIPING TO THE UNIT
BEFORE ATTEMPTING MAINTENANCE. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN CAUSE FIRE OR AN EXPLOSION
RESULTING IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
Use this replacement control kit (62-102635-81) to replace the following controls on -GPK, -GLK, -GPQ,
and -GLQ models:

Parts Supplied with this Kit:

1. Furnace Control (IFC) (62-102635-01)
2. Green Ground Wire Spear Connector Assembly (AS-50208-31-CY)
3. These Instructions (92-26177-555)
4. Replacement Wire Diagram Label (90-24314-04)

Necessary Tools:

¼" Nut Driver
Multi-Meter

CONTROL BOARD REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Remove power by turning off the main power disconnect or opening (turning off) the breaker controlling
the circuit (see warnings above). Always verify that there is no voltage at the furnace by using a meter
or a test light before starting work.
2. Turn off the gas supply to the furnace at the gas stop outside the furnace jacket.
3. Remove the furnace access doors. Always verify that there is no voltage at the furnace by using a
meter or a test light before starting work.
4. Remove (and identify for rewiring later) all other wires and wire assemblies (inducer control, power,
etc.) from both control boards. (Note position of thermostat wires before removing.) Disconnect
any connected accessories such as humidifiers and electronic air cleaners from both control boards.

  • Page 2 5. Remove the grounding screw securing the main furnace control board (IFC) to the mounting plate. Note: This screw will not be used with the replacement control board (IFC). Instead, a ground wire (to be installed in a later step) takes the place of this screw. 6.
  • Page 3 FIGURE 2: REMOVE THE GROMMET FROM THE BACK SIDE OF THE JUNCTION BOX. 11. Run the green wire through the hole in the back of the junction box where the grommet was. 12. Reinstall the grommet. 13. Attach the other end of the green wire assembly to the grounding screw inside the junction box using the eyelet (see Figure 3).
  • Page 4 14. Install the replacement control in the same position as the original main control (IFC) and snap into place. Be sure to duplicate the dipswitch selections of the existing controls. Some functions previously controlled with dipswitches (blower-off timing (P-6) and single-stage staging selection (P-7) are controlled with jumper/pins on the replacement control.
  • Page 5 This addendum will help to transfer the dipswitch settings from the existing furnace control to the replacement. BANK SW1 of Main Furnace Control (IFC) (obsolete) (62-24320-01 and 62-24320-02): This bank of dipswitches is replaced by jumper selections on the replacement control (62-102635-01 and 62-102635-81). The switch #4 (“NORM” (OFF) and “ICM” (ON)) is now obsolete.
