GM (GM System Level 1)
[GM] (General MIDI) ist eine Ergänzung zum MIDI-Standard, die sicherstellt, daß GM-
kompatible Musikdaten auf jedem GM-kompatiblen Tongenerator unverfälscht abgespielt
werden können, auch auf Geräten anderer Hersteller. Das Zeichen "GM" ist auf allen Software-
und Hardware-Produkten zu finden, die den General MIDI-Standard unterstützen.
XG
[XG] ist ein von Yamaha entwickeltes MIDI-Format, das den ihm zugrunde liegenden General
MIDI-Standard wesentlich verbessert und erweitert, da es eine größere Vielfalt hochwertiger
Stimmen (Voices) und weitreichendere Effektmöglichkeiten bietet. Dabei ist volle GM-
Kompatibilität gewährleistet.
