Installing and Cabling the 10BaseFL Mod-MAC (DLXFL)

Introduction

The 10BaseFL Mod-MAC is part of the Mod-MAC product family (which also includes the 100BaseTX and
100BaseFX). It provides connectivity between a DIGITAL MultiSwitch 612EX and a network device using
10BaseFL. The 10BaseFL Mod-MAC is a single-port Ethernet device that operates in the 850 nm window over
fiber optic media at distances of up to 2km. The 10BaseFL Mod-MAC only operates in the DIGITAL MultiSwitch
612EX. The 10BaseFL Mod-MAC contains a transmit (1) and receive (2) connector.

Installation Procedure

Before you install a 10BaseFL Mod-MAC, make sure that the module has no power connected to it. The 10BaseFL
Mod-MACs are not hot-swappable. To install the 10BaseFL Mod-MAC, complete the following steps. A Phillips-
head screwdriver is required.

Remove the dust cap from the module's modular interface connectors.

Hold the 10BaseFL Mod-MAC by its bezel so that it is parallel with a slot opening on the module.
