AT&T, Lucent or HUB cross connect cabinets. The new cabinets include brackets for the mounting of the existing 76 terminal block frames and can be ordered to include new frames to add pair count to the cabinet using the 3M 4320 Self-Strip System.
The 4230-RH/XP Hardware Kit IS NOT included with the 4220 Cabinets and must be ordered separately. c. The Self-Strip block frames can be ordered with 3M 710 Connectors (T) or 3M 4005 CBM Modules (CBM) for the field terminations. Using the SS6 in Drawing 2 that requires an order as an example, this frame contains SS (Self-Strip blocks), 6 (600 pair) and add a T for the 710 connectors.

Concrete "Pour-in-Place" Mounting Pad 1. If you are to pour a new concrete pad, it should be built before the old cabinet is removed. 2. The 3M 4256-E/EE or 4256-F/G/K Mounting Rings will be used to position the cables and attach the anchors.
2.0 Removal of the Old Cabinet Note: If a new concrete "pour-in-place" pad is to be used, it should be poured before the old cabinet is removed. See Section 3.3. Note: “Double sided” old cabinet removal is covered in Section 4.3.b. Note: The following tools are required for the rehab or expansion project: a) Normal hand tools needed for a mechanical job, i.e.
e. Unlatch the frame top from the cabinet and tilt it forward. Install the Top Drop-Down Bracket with the AT&T or HUB position to the frame. Position this bracket on the two row frames so the frame will be on the left side of the cabinet. Reuse the 1/4" bolts from the Hub Cabinet and use the #10 self-drilling screws for the AT&T frame.

c. Some old cabinet frames and jumper runs are held together by a panel that is riveted to the cabinet or a bracket riveted to the cabinet. This assembly must be removed as one piece by grinding off the rivet heads holding the panel to the end walls and drilling or punching out the rivet shafts.

g. Unbolt the top of the frames and jumper runs from the cabinet and pull them away from the cabinet. h. Install the Top Drop-Down Bracket with the AT&T position to the top of the frame using the #10 self-drilling screws. Position this bracket on the two row frames so the frame will be on the left side of the cabinet.
3.0 Mounting Pad and New Cabinet Installation Note: There are three options to use for the mounting pad of the new cabinet. Using the Existing Pad If the existing pad is level, in good condition and meets the minimum size requirements in section 1.5a, it can be used to mount the new cabinet.
Field Build a Concrete Pour-in-Place Pad Use this method when the site pad is in bad condition and needs to be replaced. The new pad should be installed before the old cabinet is removed. Use a 3M™ 4256-E/EE or 4256-F/G/K Mounting Ring with this application.
Mount the New Cabinet on the Pad a. Reposition the cabinet's two lifting straps up, attach a sling to them and handle the cabinet with a boom truck. If a boom truck is not available, remove all frames from the cabinet to minimize weight. b.
4.0 Mounting Existing 76 Block Top Mount Frames in the New Cabinets Bracket Pivot Support 4220-ET/RH or 4220-EET/XP Cabinets Bracket These cabinets include the Top Mount Bracket and Pivot Support Bracket. Screws, nuts & sleeves for Hub pivot a. Loosen the bolts of the Top Mount Bracket in the cabinet, so it can be adjusted with the top of the frame.
c. Set the frame's pivots onto the Pivot Support Bracket and swing the frame up to the top bracket. Adjust the top bracket to align it with the top of the frame. Secure the AT&T frame to the Top Mounting Bracket using the #10 self-drilling screws.

Position this bracket on the two row frames so the frame will be on the left side of the cabinet. Reuse the 1/4" bolts from the Hub Cabinet and use the #10 Self drilling screws for the AT&T frame.

"Special Conversion Cabinets" The "Special Conversion Cabinets" are expansion cabinets for one specific pair size of old cabinets. They include all frame support brackets, Self-Strip Blocks and block frames. The installation of the 4230-LF/RH - 2700/3600 Single Sided "Special Conversion Cabinet" is the same as the other RH/XP Cabinets except this cabinet includes the SS1350-9T Frame.

3. The Pivot Support Bracket of the "Special Conversion Cabinets" has a single height position. Place this Pivot Support Bracket onto the cabinet base but don't secure it. Lay the frame onto the bracket and carefully swing the frame up to the Top Mounting Bracket.
5.0 Finishing the Cabinet and Mounting New Frames Shield Bonding a. Install shield bond connectors and bond straps to all cables according to your company's practice. Attach all the straps to the cabinet's bond plates. Two bond plates are provided with four positions available, two front and two rear in the corners.
c. Use an expanding foam sealant to seal around the cables. Mix the sealant according to the instructions. Pour the expandable sealant 1/8" thick on top of the foam tape, totally surrounding the cables. Note: Carefully follow safety, health and environmental information given on product label or the MSDS sheet for the sealant.
Wire Management and Splicing a. Do all cable splicing work from the back of the cabinet. If the back is blocked, all work must be done through the front with the frames lowered. b. There are two Tie Off Bars mounted in the large cabinets and three bar positions on the cabinet side walls.
Jumper Wire Installation and Routing a. Jumper wire ends must be clean cut and bent 1/2" - 3/4" 90˚. The post slot must be in the vertical insertion position. 90° Hook b. Split pair, TIP - left, RING - right, at assigned post positions.
