    I N S T A L L A T I O N A N D O P E R A T I O N ATC 3401 - (1) - R INSTALLATION General Installation of the transponder ATC 3401 - (1) - R depends on the aircraft type and its equipment. Therefore, only general information can be provided in this Section. Inspection before installation Before the transponder is installed in an aircraft, a visual inspection for possible transport damages shall be performed.

    . Mechanical installation The ATC 3401 - (1) - R transponder is to be fitted at a suitable point in the aircraft. This is usually the avionics compartment. The dimensions necessary for the installation are shown in Fig. 2-2.
