Fine tuning Shimano geared hubs
To fine tune the hub gears, first put them in the 4th
gear. Turn the pedals backwards a few times. Check if
the 2 yellow indicator bars at the bottom of the rear
cassette are aligned.
Adjust the cable tension by turning the cable
adjustment screw attached to the grip shifter until the
desired result is achieved.
NuVinci N330-N380 stepless shifting hubs
The NuVinci N330 and N380 are maintance free hub
gears that shift stepless from the lowest to the highest
gear. The NuVinci N330 and N380 hubs are known
for their impressive gear ratios of 330% and 380%
respectively.
Controlling it is easily done by turning the gripshifter
at the grip on the rightside. You can always shift, even
while standing still. However, if the bike is in motion
during shifting it will feel a bit easier, and you can shift
between the entire gear range only if the wheels are
turning. In the display of the grip shifter you can see
the current gear ratio. The N380 has a surprising display
with a small cyclist that seems to move either over a hill
(low gear) or move over a flat surface (high gear).

Brakes

First things first
To prevent any surprises while driving, please
familiarize yourself which side brake lever is for which
brake (front or rear wheel). It is important to never use
any grease or cleaning agents on braking pads or rotors.
Grease and other contaminants can cause noise while
braking and diminish braking function.
Fine tuning the brakes
By the cable adjusterscrew at the brake lever, you can
fine tune most brakes (except coasterbrake). By turning
the adjusterscrew tighter you decrease the tension of
the cable and by turning it open, you give the cable
more tension.
