FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between a DCU and a KVM?
KVMs are designed to switch between active computers, allowing the user to only see and manage one
target device at a time. The Secure DCU controls the KVM remotely. The computers, mouse, keyboard
and displays all connect to the KVM, but the DCU controls the KVM's functions. The Secure DCU
sits on the user's desktop, but the Secure KVM can be up to 50 ft. away from user access, protecting
critical resources.
When should a Belkin Secure DCU be used?
A Secure DCU should be used when performance and
reduced operator error are important. A quick glance shows the active channel. The user changes
channels with a simple push of a button.
The Secure DCU also provides additional security. All computer hardware, connections and
communication can be located up to 50 ft. away from the user, who can only access the keyboard,
mouse, display and Secure DCU.
