Engage first gear.
The engine stops.
If the engine fails to stop:
Have the side-stand switch
checked by a specialist work-
shop, preferably by an author-
ised BMW Motorrad Retailer.
Checking the gaiter
Place the motorcycle on its
stand on firm, even ground.
Check the gaiter 1 is posi-
tioned correctly and has not
developed cracks.
If the gaiter has come loose or
there are cracks:
Have the gaiter checked
by a specialist workshop,
preferably by an authorised
BMW Motorrad Retailer.
Checking the air filter
element, replacing it if
necessary
Remove the Rallye motorcycle
seat ( 20).
Open the storage compartment
cover 1.
Remove the screws 2, 3
and 4.
Remove the tank cover.
Remove the screws 1.
Remove the air filter body
cover.
Remove the frame 1.
Remove the air filter insert 2.
